Spam is a massive problem for everyone. FeedBlitz works very hard to ensure the email you send isn't routed to the junk folder. As a publisher, there are two extra steps you can take to authenticate the email sent by FeedBlitz. These include:
Why set up an SPF Record and DKIM profile?
FeedBlitz sends your email on behalf of the email address, example@mydomain.com, assigned to your list. When your email is sent from FeedBlitz's mail servers, security checks take place between us and your subscriber's inbox. These security checks verify we have permission to send these emails before allowing the email to enter the subscriber's inbox.
Setting up an SPF record and a DKIM profile helps prevent your email from being misrouted to SPAM folders or filtered by your subscriber's Internet Service Providers (ISP) by providing critical information that says you have authorized these emails.
Following the instructions below will also eliminate the need for your subscribers to add anything to their whitelist or safe sender list, as well as remove the example@mydomain.com via feedblitz@mail.feedblitz.com in Gmail.
You can check your sending domain's status using FeedBlitz's validator.
Do I need to set up both an SPF Record and DKIM profile?
Ideally, yes. Sometimes it is not possible to do both and in those cases, we recommend at least setting up the DKIM profile.
Please note:
It is FeedBlitz's policy to not edit DNS entries on behalf of anyone. You must contact your DNS Provider/Registrar's support if you are hesitant to make these changes yourself. This task is a routine operation that your provider's support team will know how how to do.
FeedBlitz's support team will be happy to help you if you have any questions about exactly what information their support team will need or where to find it.
What you'll need to get started:
Before you start:
Other than your FeedBlitz login, you'll need your account information for your DNS provider. This is the service where you pay for your domain name or URL. Your DNS provider is also called a registrar. Your DNS provider can sometimes also be your hosting provider, like GoDaddy, BlueHost, DreamHost, or RackSpace, other times a domain name was purchased through another service like Hover or Namecheap.
Every DNS provider will have instructions on how to create DNS entries. If you're unable to locate these instructions, simply contact their support for assistance.
If you did not set up your website, please contact your company's IT department or the person who set up the website for assistance with creating both of these DNS entries. You can copy support@feedblitz.com in your email and our team will be happy to answer any questions.
Set up a Domain Keys Identified (DKIM) Profile.
A DKIM Profile adds information, a digital signature, to each email that proves FeedBlitz has permission to send the email on behalf of your domain. Like an SPF record, you will need to work with your registrar to complete the multi-step process. It is also critical to test your setup before enabling it as an improper setting will cause your email to be routed to junk or spam.
From your Welcome drop-down menu, select SPF, DKIM Authentication:
Navigate to the second tab labeled DKIM Authentication:
In the text box below Domain enter your domain name: mydomain.com (You don't need http or https here.) Leave feedblitz as the selector, unless you're an advanced user, and then click Create a New DKIM Profile.
The profile has been created and is set to inactive.
To complete the process, copy the information under Set this up in your DNS:
And use this information to create a DNS entry with your DNS provider/registrar.
It's important to know changes to your DNS settings can take up to 48 hours to affect all of your subscribers. To test your DNS entry, click the Check DKIM is OK button.
Validate your changes. Use this link: https://app.feedblitz.com/f/f.Fbz?SpfValidator When the check succeeds. You may then change the status to active.
It can take up to 48 hours, when the check returns as OK, switch the status of your DKIM Profile to active and you're all set.
Important Note:
Changes may be reflected immediately or take up to 48 hours. Making the changes before they have rolled out completely can result in a fail in the security checks, causing some of your emails to be sent to the spam folder.
Specific instructions for some registrars: Please note you are creating a CNAME and that not all registrars require your root domain in the entry. It will vary by provider. GoDaddy and Squarespace are two examples that only require the selector you created in FeedBlitz, as shown in the example above: feedblitz._domainkey. Others will require the full domain feedblitz._domainkey.feedblitz.com

Create a Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record.
Each Domain May Only Have One SPF Record
Please check your existing DNS records for an SPF entry. If one exists, edit the value of the entry. Do NOT create a second entry.
In your registrar account, begin by creating a DNS entry.
For that entry, there are three important things to note:
- If your registrar or nameserver currently has no SPF records present, add a: TEXT DNS record:
v=spf1 include:mail.feedblitz.com ~all - If you use Google Apps to manage your email, you will need to include Google in the record:
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com include:mail.feedblitz.com ~all - If a record is present but does not include FeedBlitz add include:mail.feedblitz.com before the ~all or -all
Once your record has been created, you can check in FeedBlitz to ensure it has been set up correctly.
While logged in, navigate to your Welcome drop-down menu and select SPF, DKIM Authentication.
Enter your domain in the text box on the first tab and click Check Now.
