A Breakdown of Permissions Accepted by FeedBlitz

In email marketing, permission is express, verifiable consent to receive email.

What does that mean? It must be clear what the person has signed up for and that it must be recorded that the person signed up to receive the email.

How does permission relate to using FeedBlitz to send email?

When you import a subscriber or a list of subscribers into FeedBlitz, you agree that the owners of these addresses have given you permission to be emailed. You can read more about our Import terms of service (TOS) here.

When a subscriber enters their email address into a FeedBlitz form, that permission is saved by FeedBlitz along with other information such as the date, time, and IP address.

What is NOT considered permission to send a person an email through FeedBlitz?

It is not considered permission if the owner of the email address:

  • never gave you express, informed consent to receive emails from you.
  • never signed up for your mailing list.
  • is a contact on LinkedIn, Facebook, or another social app.
  • is a member of your address book.
  • handed you their business card at a networking event or conference.
  • was part of a purchased or rented list of email addresses.

Is a pre-checked box as part of a purchase express consent?

No. Those checkboxes are easy to miss and do not indicate active interest in receiving email.

Why is FeedBlitz dual opt-in for a majority of users?

Dual opt-in lists ensure that the addresses entered into your forms belong to real, monitored email addresses. The people who sign up for your email are more likely to remember signing up for you if they have to click an activation link and are less likely to report your emails as spam.

When your email list only has real, monitored email addresses, it is also much easier to maintain a good open rate.

How can I qualify single opt-in?

FeedBlitz does have a single opt-in program for well-qualified publishers. You can learn more about single opt-in here.

What about marketing versus transactional emails?

A transactional email is a one-to-one email such as a receipt or a password reset. It is a necessary email not used solely for marketing purposes. Local laws dictate what may or may not be included in transactional emails.

When can I resubscribe someone?

If you ever delete or remove a subscriber from one of your lists, you may re-add them at any time.

When can you request an email address to be restored by FeedBlitz?

If a subscriber is having trouble re-subscribing, our team will be glad to assist. Either forward the request to support@feedblitz.com or have them contact the team directly and we will be happy to help.
